Leumit's supplementary health insurance program

According to the National Health Insurance Act, Israeli healthcare funds are required to supply certain medical services defined in the basic health insurance plan.
We, at Leumit Health Services, believe that you deserve more. We understand that the basic health insurance plan, comprehensive as it is, cannot answer all the medical needs you and your family have. That is why we offer supplemental insurance plans (“Shaban”) which give you accessibility to additional medical services beyond the coverage of the basic health insurance plan

Leumit Health Services offers two levels of supplemental insurance plans:


Leumit Silver – A basic supplemental health insurance plan that provides a range of medical services beyond those defined in the general basic health insurance plan.

Leumit Gold–The most advanced and comprehensive supplemental insurance plan offered in Israel, providing complete coverage for advanced private medical care.

What additional benefits are provided by Leumit Silver/Gold?

  • A higher standard of medical care - by choosing a physician from among Israel's top specialists and by choosing a private hospital or medical service facility where you will undergo the procedure.
  • Services in categories not covered by the Health Basket - for example genetic testing, discounts on dental treatments, orthopedic products and vaccinations for members traveling abroad
  • Extensive treatment - even in areas covered by the Health Basket you will be entitled to receive additional treatments. For example in the area of child development your child will be entitled to receive additional treatments beyond those mandated by the laws governing the Health Basket (physical therapy/occupational therapy/speech therapy).

Private surgery - includes the right to choose your own surgeon, the right to choose the hospital and Medical Services provided prior to, during and after surgery

  • Consultation with a specialist - for second opinions by specialist in Israel (and in some cases abroad) the coverage entitles you to reimbursement
  • Dental treatments - substantial discounts at private dental clinics affiliated with Leumit
  • Doctor visits at night and on weekends at reduced costs.
  • Discounts on vaccines and medications – including over 600 non-subsidized medications!
  • A wide range of complementary medicine treatments tailored to every age and stage, including: massages, acupuncture, reflexology, Shiatsu, and more.
  • A large selection of orthopedic devices at affordable prices.

Throughout Your Pregnancy

The supplementary insurance provides entitlements, services, and benefits for women related to fertility, pregnancy, and childbirth.

Leumit Gold’s pregnancy package is designed to help cover the many associated costs.

Leumit Gold members are entitled to financial reimbursements of up to ₪9,290 (₪2,322 per pregnancy, for up to four pregnancies) for a variety of tests and treatments during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
In addition, only Leumit Gold members are eligible for a maternity recovery reimbursement starting from the first child — without reducing the total amount available in the pregnancy package!

For the Kids

A variety of leading services and treatments are available for children through the Leumit Silver and Leumit Gold plans, including:

Surgery

Leumit offers its members two surgical pathways:

Public Surgery Pathway – available to all Leumit members, including those without supplementary insurance. Surgeries are performed by Leumit physicians within the public system.

Supplementary Insurance Surgery Pathway – available through Leumit Silver and Gold, offering advanced medical options with personal choice:

Choice of surgeon from among the leading specialists in Israel

Choice of hospital, whether a private facility or a private service unit (Sharap) within a public hospital

Consultations and second opinions

Leumit employs top-tier, highly professional physicians. As part of the Leumit Silver and Gold supplementary plans, members can also consult with senior specialists outside the Leumit network for second opinions.

There are two pathways for specialist consultations:

Consultation with specialists who have a direct agreement with Leumit

Consultation with out-of-network specialists (reimbursement-based pathway), provided their names appear on Leumit's list of approved consultants for reimbursement on the day of the consultation

 

Medication

Many medications are not included in the national health basket, along with over-the-counter (OTC) medications and medical supplies — all of which are available at discounted prices for supplementary insurance members at Leumit pharmacies.
Through the Leumit Silver and Gold plans, members can access hundreds of non-basket medications at significant discounts.

The services are provided according to the terms of the Leumit Silver and Gold agreement. The medical services provided through the settlement providers are subject to a deductible. Reimbursements for medical services through providers that are not in the arrangement are given up to a monetary ceiling according to the terms of the Leumit Silver and Gold agreement.
