Leumit Health Services invites you to an active and healthy lifestyle workshop for seniors

Aging carries with it a host of health, emotional and social challenges. The purpose of the group is to create a support group, which promotes and maintains a healthy lifestyle and encourages physical activity, sensible nutrition and advice and support, adapted to the unique needs of the group members.

The workshop includes 10 weekly sessions of an hour and a half each session, delivered by fitness trainers, dieticians and a social worker.

Exercise

Moderate physical activity is essential for healthy aging and contributes to maintaining health and significantly improving daily functioning in the physical, mental, social and emotional spheres. Perseveration in performing physical activity helps in dealing with the various challenges facing adults. It improves fitness and physical condition, strengthens the immune system, reduces the intensity of feelings of anxiety and depression, allows the adult to meet people his own age and get out of the comfort zone, provides a sense of success and ability at the end of each workout, stimulates the nervous system and improves cognitive function.

Effective physical fitness combines aerobic activity to improve cardiopulmonary endurance, health indicators, mood and ability to perform daily tasks, strength and resistance exercises to strengthen muscles, prevent loss of bone mass, strengthen core muscles, upright posture and prevent falls and injuries, and flexibility and balance exercises to lengthen muscles, prevent clumsiness movement and to reduce pain.
During the sessions, instructions will be given for recommended physical activity adapted to the age and health status of the participants.

Good nutrition

A balanced and healthy diet and its importance for healthy aging, for reducing the formation of chronic diseases, for vitality in daily functioning and for maintaining energy and mood.
The sessions include advice from a dietician, and guidance on the principles of a healthy diet with special emphasis on the unique needs of the elderly.
